5 tips on nailing your confetti photos - wedding planning

A bride and groom being showered with white confetti

Confetti shots are one of my most requested photos of the day and I can totally see why. Using my experience of, Below are my 5 favourite tips on making the most of the confetti and nailing youR photos.

1. GO STEADy

As they say “slow and steady” wins the race! The confetti moment can be such fun but it can be over in an instant. I would recommend taking a breather and embracing the moment - even take a second to have a kiss in the middle. From a photography perspective, taking it steady also means your photographer can capture more photos for you.

2. MAKE IT BIODEGRADABLE

This is an easy win, but make it planet friendly and opt for a biodegradable version. Biodegradable confetti is easily available online. For my wedding I chose white paper confetti from proper confetti. Highly recommended! Lindsey and Matt (photo above) also opted for this for their summer Welsh wedding and it looked fabulous. The awesome thing about paper confetti is its super fluttery and tends to slowy float down gently meaning it makes much of a statement in your photos. Just check with your venue what is and isn’t allowed then you’re good to go!

3. KEEP IT COMING

There is no such thing as too much confetti (really!). Most websites suggest a set amount per person, I would allow for everyone….and then add some more! More confetti is not only more fun for you as a couple to walk through, but it makes your photos look epic. Some of my couples choose to do a ‘second confetti look’ where their guests gather around them in a circle and go wild.

4. HEADS UP

The natural thing for us to do when something is being thrown at us is to duck down. Try and keep your head up and enjoy that celebratory confetti moment with your guests cheering you onwards . There is always going to one groomsman who will try and throw it in your face but it will make a hilarious photo I promise!

5. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

Most couples opt for their confetti tunnel to happen just after the ceremony, which I agree is lovely! However if you’re a big confetti fan, you might consider having it somewhere else in your day as well. For instance, you might opt for confetti cannons during your ceremony once you’re announced you’re married? Or, during your first dance. It will give off the big WOW factor and will make for a beautiful surreal moment! . Can you tell I’m obsessed with confetti?
